W.E.B. Du Bois: I’ve Known Rivers

“W.E.B. Du Bois: I’ve Known Rivers” was held on August 27, 2022—the anniversary of Du Bois’s passing in Accra, Ghana, and the eve of the seminal March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. A group of local organizations gathered at River Walk’s W.E.B. Du Bois River Park to honor Great Barrington’s iconic native son with an afternoon of readings and musical offerings.

Ecologically Speaking published in KOSMOS

River Walk is a feat of vision and restoration that marks the confluence of ecological renewal, environmental and social justice, the underpinnings of the industrial revolution, and the vitality of a downtown. Say Goodbye to Our Treasured Silver Maple

For years Housatonic River Walk visitors have enjoyed getting up-close to a large silver maple adjacent to our Main Street stairway. This iconic tree, with its exceptional swirled bark, has been a key feature in our guided tree walks. Sadly, we must say goodbye.
